AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: Scott Technology (NZX:SCT) signed settlement with Caterpillar to develop an automatic connection system to support stationary charging of electrified machines.
Scott Technology’s experience on this space derives from its Robofuel product, which efficiently automates the conventional diesel refuelling course of of mining vehicles. Under the collaboration, Scott will apply this proprietary technology to allow options in electrified applications.
Scott Technology CEO, John Kippenberger, says, Scott is proud to work with a global chief such as Caterpillar on this project.
“At Scott we’re passionate about pursuing a long-term sustainable future along with our customers and wider stakeholders. We are delighted to support Caterpillar’s efforts to present its customers with options that assist them meet their sustainability goals,” says Kippenberger.
Electric mining vehicles would require extra recharging interactions than conventional diesel vehicles require refuelling, therefore the necessity to automate this course of is critical to making sure security and efficiency.
“Our world main imaginative and prescient sensing and detection system mixed with our robotic technology permits the charging course of to be accomplished in a fraction of the time and with out manual intervention, eliminating human risk and labour prices whereas maximising fleet utilisation. The collaborative efforts will result in a safer and extra environment friendly solution,” says Kippenberger.
“We look ahead to working with Scott Technology on this innovative system. This solution is a constructing block in our electrification and automation portfolio to present safer and extra environment friendly options to our mining customers,” says Brian Weller, Vice President at Caterpillar.
